Substrate process is where the aluminum blanks undergo chamfering, annealing, grinding and cleaning. The blanks are edge-lathed (chamfered) according to customer's Inner Diameter & Outer Diameter (IDOD) specifications. The chamfered blanks are then annealed at a certain temperature for a period of time to release the mechanical stress from blanking process. Finally, the blanks undergo surface grinding and cleaning. Grinding is the most critical process, as its purpose is to meet certain edge profiles or curvatures, surface waviness and roughness. Our substrate facility is capable to process various form factors and sizes.
