In a collaboration with PIFWA (Penang Inshore Fishermen Welfare Association), KPTec employees embarked on a environmental-friendly Mangrove Tree-Planting Project on Saturday, 8 December 2012 at Kuala Sungai Acheh, Nibong Tebal. Here’s a look at the important numbers: Total purchase of 1,000 trees 566 trees (worth RM3,396) were sponsored by 73 employees The remaining 434 trees (worth RM2,604) were sponsored by KPTec On 8 December 2012 at 8.45am, 2 buses filled with 73 dedicated volunteers arrived at Kuala Sungai Acheh, Nibong Tebal KPTec also contributed 1 unit of projector and cash RM1,000 to PIFWA to encourage their effort on mangrove education to the community The program started at 9am and finished at 11am with 13 volunteers from PIFWA

Under "Caring is Loving" program, KPTEC (KPTec Employees Care) had distributed more than 250 items of household/grocery items (207 items from employees & cafeteria vendors and 52 items from the Company). Total cash collection from employees is RM815 and Company also contributed RM1,885 to given to the families (1Malaysia) recently in Southwest (Barat Daya) area.
Those items and cash have been distributed to the 8 poor families (registered under Welfare Department, Malaysia/JKM).
We also opened the opportunity to our Cafeteria vendors - Delima Perdana, Sunshine and Hin Fruits to contribute for this program as well .

KPTec had a special launching on 06 May 2011 to promote employee awareness on the emphasis towards environment conservation; and the steps taken towards achieving ISO14001:2004 Certification.
We aim to:

Reduce energy usage by 10% by 2015 (Reduce GHG – green house gases emission)

Manage resources and reduce use of raw material by 5% by 2015
-
Manage waste and increase recycling rate by 5% by 2015
By adopting the ISO 14001 Environmental Managements System, we are committed towards meeting customers’ requirements as well as establishing a strategic management system.
We want to manage environmental affairs and control our processes so that we can reduce the environmental impacts created by our processes and products.

In conjunction with Chinese New Year, KPTEC (KPTec Employees Care) had picked Rumah Charis Home for Aged and Children at Relau as their next destination; and distributed 10 hampers, 5 boxes of mandarin oranges, household items and ‘angpow’ to its 32 residents.

In conjunction with Aidilfitri, KPTEC (KPTec Employees Care) had contributed and distributed a fridge, 32 bags of sportswear; and ‘duit raya’ to 32 children under care of the Rumah Permata Kasih in Bukit Mertajam.

In conjunction with the Chinese New Year, KPTEC (KPTec Employees Care) had distributed 50 hampers and 5 boxes of mandarin oranges to some 220 residents of the Silver Jubilee Home for the aged in Sungai Dua, Penang. Our team visited the elderly residents and distributed the gifts on 12 February 2010.

On 10 February 2010, 28 students mainly 1st and 2nd year students from School of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering. Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) together with 2 lecturers visited our Company.
The objectives are to understand about KPTec as an Organization, its product and processes and careers exposure in the electronics industry. The three-hour program started with our Company profile presentation followed by careers in electronics industry briefing and plant tour.

Employees are requested to report all personal travels to HR and Industrial Nurse.

Executive Secretary will notify all Business travels to HR and Industrial Nurse.

Upon return, employees are subjected to the wearing of a face mask and recording their body temperature for a duration of seven days.

All outsiders entering the premises will be requested to declare their health status, record the body temperature, wear a face mask and have their hands sanitized at the security post.

Influenza A (H1N1) Preventive Plan is activated by Safety / Human Resources, following the confirmation of first influenza A (H1N1) case in Malaysia. Effective immediately, all employees must wash their hands before and after entering KPTec premise. Vendors/Visitors/Contractors/Suppliers must fill in the Health Declaration Form before entering KPTec.

As a successful subsidiary company of Kobe Steel, Ltd. Japan, our Engineering and Operations success has garnered the attention of Forbes magazine, Japan. The interview was conducted by Mr Hideo Onozuka (Chief Editor, Forbes Japan) with the support from Mr Hiroyuki Yabuki (PR Officer, Kobe Steel Ltd). The publication was out in 2009 May.

Located at the Learning Centre, KPTec Library is equipped with an array of books ranging from hobbies to self-improvement, management to technical; and powered with internet access on two desktops intended as a knowledge resource for all employees. Highlights of the event included the ribbon-cutting and plaque-signing ceremonies by Mr Steve Koyama, the MD.

KPTec celebrated its 15-year Anniversary and the successful completion of P7 expansion project. The event was staged in front of the main building and attended by more than 300 employees.
The memorable occasion also saw the recognition to two of the longest serving employees arriving in a chauffeured driven car led by a motorcade of super bikers, who were then greeted with standing ovation by the crowd and each presented with a bouquet. Other itineraries included a pantomime show on the changes by KPTec, a video show highlighting the 15-year milestone, a slideshow on the P7 successful completion and the 15th year anniversary cake-cutting by our MD and COO, Mr Steve Koyama and Mr Nik Saifudean.
Towards the closing of the event, 300 balloons containing lucky draw coupons were released, throwing the crowd into a frenzy bursting the balloons to snatch the fantastic prizes. Finally, the Team Captains did the honor of launching the P7 plaque commemorating its successful completion.
